Collaboration with the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI)
Europole Mer and WHOI have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in October 2011 to formalise collaboration.
The call for projects for international exchanges (see below) seeks to provide funding to feed this MoU with collaborative research activities.

A call for projects was open in December 2012 to support collaborations between:
- Europole Mer members and the WHOI
- Europole Mer members and Brazil partners
Maximum amount per project: 15 000 euros

Impact of biotic stressors (pathogens, harmful algal blooms) on physiology of the tropical oyster species C. gasar in the context of global change. Led by Hélène Hegaret (IUEM)
Mechanisms of lithosphere formation in the Equatorial Atlantic and present day active deformation of a major oceanic shear zone and transform system. Led by Marcia Mai (IUEM)
Towards broad-scale seabed habitat maps in Brazil. Led by Jacques Populus (Ifremer)
With WHOI
Study of the exchanges between the coastal area and the open ocean in the North Atlantic Ocean (water, chemical elements) : use of radium isotopes as tracer; Led by Laurent Mémery (IUEM). This project extends into 2014.
It is intended that Europole Mer will pursue this scheme beyond 2013.
This scheme is co-funded by UEB and Europole Mer.
